A good ride starts before pickup.

The trip to the Tank can be part of the fun. Before you go, get to know the other fan, agree on the ride details, and share your plan with someone you trust.

Get ready for the ride

Get to know the other fan

Each member adds a name, photo, bio, and home area to help you get acquainted. Message each other before the ride to confirm details and coordinate the ride.

Find your kind of ride

Check the profile and ride details, ask questions, and choose what works for you.

Get on the same page

Confirm where to meet, when to leave, which car to look for, and any ride preferences before heading out.

Keep a friend in the loop

Let someone you trust know who you are riding with and when you expect to be back. You can share a link with the details of your ride.

Know how to get help

You can report or block a member from your Requests page. If you feel unsafe, leave when you can and call 911 for immediate danger.

Badges you may see

You may see these on profiles or rides. Tap or hover a badge to learn what it means.

Code of Conduct

Great rides depend on how we treat each other. Everyone who joins agrees to this code.

Everyone

These apply to drivers and riders, in messages and in person.

  • Be respectful. Treat everyone with courtesy. No harassment, discrimination, threats, or abusive behavior.
  • Be friendly & sociable. You're all Sharks fans headed to the same game, so say hello, share the excitement, and help make the ride fun for everyone.
  • Communicate clearly. Agree on the pickup spot, timing, and seats before you travel, and give early notice if plans change or you need to cancel.
  • Honor the plan. Ride as agreed. No unplanned stops, detours, or changes unless everyone in the car is fine with them.
  • Respect boundaries. Respect personal space and privacy. Don't contact someone after the ride unless they want you to, and don't record anyone without their permission.
  • Keep details private. Use other members' names, contact details, and photos only to arrange the ride, and never post or pass them along.
  • Report problems. Use the report and block tools if something isn't right. For immediate danger, call 911.

Drivers

  • Drive responsibly. Follow traffic laws and speed limits, stay off your phone, and never drive impaired or drowsy.
  • Keep your car ready. Keep it clean and in good working order, and hold a valid license and the insurance your coverage requires.
  • Set ground rules up front. Say before the ride how you feel about smoking, vaping, food, music, temperature, and scents.
  • Be on time. Leave when you said you would, and tell your riders as soon as you know you'll be late.
  • Cancel early. If plans change, cancel the ride in Teal Wheels right away so riders can make other arrangements.

Riders

  • Be on time. Be ready and waiting at the agreed pickup spot.
  • Respect the car. Keep your feet off the seats, avoid making a mess, take your trash with you, and ask before eating or drinking.
  • Be present and avoid distractions. Conversation is encouraged, but keep the driver's attention on the road. Avoid distracting the driver with calls, messages, or disruptive behavior. Follow the driver's reasonable requests, including buckling up and observing agreed vehicle rules.
  • Cancel early. If you can't make it, cancel your request so the seat can go to another fan.

If someone breaks the code

Teal Wheels may suspend or remove members who break this code. Questions or concerns? Email ryan@tealwheels.org.

Share the details of your ride

Drivers and accepted riders can send a private ride link to a friend or family member. They see the game, pickup and drop-off details, the driver's name, and the car and license plate—no account needed. Phone numbers, emails, and other riders are never included. The link expires on its own.

Find Share this ride with someone you trust on your Requests or My rides page.

Auto insurance for shared rides

Drivers need to maintain the auto insurance required by law and check that their policy permits the way they use their car, including voluntary carpools. Policies differ, so check with your insurer before offering a seat.

Teal Wheels does not provide auto coverage for member rides or verify individual drivers' policies. Members arrange rides directly with one another.

If there is an accident, call 911 when someone needs urgent help and contact the relevant auto insurer. The Terms of Use explain member responsibilities and the limits of the service.

If you need help during a ride

Call 911 for an emergency. You can report a concern through Teal Wheels, but we cannot monitor a trip or respond in real time.

Common Questions

What if I'm in an accident?

Call 911 if anyone needs urgent help. Exchange the information needed for an insurance claim and contact the relevant auto insurer. Teal Wheels does not provide auto coverage for member rides.

What if someone misbehaves?

Leave the situation if you can. Call 911 for immediate danger or illegal behavior. You can also report the concern in the app or email ryan@tealwheels.org for Teal Wheels to review.

Is my information private?

Your name, bio, home city and neighborhood, and social media link (if you add one) are visible to approved members, not the public. A driver's photo is shown to approved members; a rider's photo is shown only to a driver the rider has asked for a seat. Your phone number and email are shared only after a driver accepts a rider, so you can coordinate the trip. Ticket screenshots, thumbs and notes are seen only by Teal Wheels. See our Privacy Policy for details.

A note about reviews and badges

Teal Wheels reviews profiles to help reduce spam and looks at ticket screenshots drivers add. We do not run background checks or verify identity, driving ability, driving records, or auto insurance.

A ticket screenshot does not confirm the driver will attend the game. Badges provide context, not a safety endorsement. The Code of Conduct sets expectations, but cannot guarantee anyone's behavior.
