Helping Sharks fans get to the Tank

How Teal Wheels works.

Fans going to the game offer empty seats in their car. Fans who need a ride ask for one. Drivers and riders make their own decisions; Teal Wheels helps with introductions and coordination but does not assign rides or provide transportation.

Join in three steps

Your account gives you access to drive or ride.

  1. Sign up

Create an account with your email and password.

  2. Confirm your email

Click the link we send you.

  3. Complete your profile

Add your name, photo, short bio, and the city and neighborhood you usually leave from. A phone number and social links are optional. We then review your profile and photo to help reduce spam before you can ask for a seat or post a ride. This does not verify your identity, driving ability, insurance, or safety.

Got room in the car?

If you're driving

  1. Add your car

Make, model, color and license plate. Set your car preferences: music, temperature, food and drink, and more. The plate is never shown to browsing members, only to riders you accept.

  2. Post the ride

Select a game. Choose your pickup location, time, and how many seats (1 to 8). Offer the trip there, the trip home, or both.

  3. Confirm four things

That you're licensed, have permission to use the car, carry the insurance the law requires, and will follow traffic laws.

  4. Answer seat requests

Riders may request a seat or send you a message to confirm details. You're notified by email and in the app. Accept or decline the request.

Need a lift?

If you need a ride

  1. Browse rides or signal you’re looking

See rides to each upcoming home game, with the closest to your neighborhood first. If you don't see a ride available, indicate you're looking for a ride.

  2. Review the ride details

Each ride shows the driver's photo, area, badges, the car, and the vibe, so you can decide whether it feels right for you.

  3. Ask a question, or ask for a seat

Message the driver first with no commitment. When you're ready, request a seat for one way or the round trip.

  4. Wait for the answer

We email you when the driver accepts or declines. Changed your mind? Cancel in one tap.

  1. Coordinate the Ride

After the driver accepts, both people receive the contact details needed to coordinate. Confirm the pickup spot, timing, vehicle, seat, luggage, and any other expectations together.

From request to the rink

After you ask for a seat

You send a request
The driver is told right away and sees your name, photo, bio and area. No phone number, email or plate has been shared. You can keep messaging.
The driver accepts
You'll receive each other's email address and phone number (if added) so you can coordinate the pickup, and you'll see the car's license plate.
The driver declines
No contact details or license plate are shared. Ask another driver. You can still read the conversation for 7 days.
Plans change
Either of you can cancel in the app, which frees the seat for another fan. Cancel as early as you can. If a driver cancels on an accepted rider very close to pickup, Teal Wheels keeps a private record of it.
After the game
You're both asked whether the ride happened, and can give an optional thumbs up or down and a private note about the other person. Only Teal Wheels sees the thumbs and notes. When you both say it happened, it counts toward your profile.

Your privacy

Who can see what

Every member has completed the same account-review process. The review helps reduce spam; it does not verify identity, driving ability, insurance, or behavior. This is what each of you can see.

Name, bio, home area, social link
Approved members. Never the public: you need an account that's been approved to see anyone.
Profile photo
A driver's photo is shown to approved members. A rider's photo is shown only to a driver they've asked for a seat. Teal Wheels reviews every photo.
Other riders on your ride
Once a driver has accepted riders, each accepted rider sees the name, bio and area of the others on that ride, and which trips they are on. Not their photo, contact details or social link.
Phone number and email
Only the other person on an accepted request, and only after the driver accepts. Never before, and never in notification emails.
Car make, model and color
Approved members looking at the ride.
License plate
The driver and accepted riders. A participant may also include it in a private ride link shared with a trusted contact.
Messages
The two people in the conversation. Teal Wheels can read them when someone makes a report or to keep the service safe.
Ticket screenshots
Only Teal Wheels. Everyone else sees the badge, never the ticket.
Thumbs up, thumbs down and notes
Only Teal Wheels. The other person never sees them.
Where riders are looking
Approved members see counts by neighborhood, never names.

Badges

What the badges mean

Badges show what Teal Wheels actually looked at. They help you choose who to ride with. They are not a guarantee about anyone. Tap or hover a badge in the app for the same note.

The driver added a screenshot of their season ticket and we looked at it. It's on their profile and every ride they post this season.
The driver added a screenshot of a ticket for this game and we looked at it. It's on that game's ride only.
They linked a social profile so you can see who they are online.
Gave 3 rides Took 2 rides
Rides this person gave or took that both people confirmed happened. It grows as they ride.
Heads-up
A ride that's only the drive home, from a driver with no ticket for that game, says so, because we can't tell whether they went.

None of this checks identity, driving ability or background, and Teal Wheels doesn't verify insurance. Read how we think about safety before your first ride.
